Service for Michael D. Palmer, 61, will be today at 1 p.m. at Kramer Funeral Home, Palouse, Wash. Inurnment will be at the Garfield Cemetery, Garfield, Wash.
Mr. Palmer, who died Tuesday, was born in Colfax.
He graduated from Oakesdale ( Wash.) High School in 1962, and served in the Signal Corps in the Army during the Viet Nam (sic) War.
He married Denise Daniels in 1976 in Oakesdale. The couple later divorced.
Mr. Palmer was a mechanic and worked in Oakesdale. In 1980 he moved to Tucson, Ariz., and worked for Oracle Road Rental.
He returned to Oakesdale in 1987 and went to work for the Oakesdale Farm Supply Co. He later worked for RentX in Spokane and had worked for L&M Truck Sales for the past five years.
Mr. Palmer moved to Spokane Valley a year and a half ago.
He was a volunteer firefighter for the Farmington Fire Department. He enjoyed cooking, baking and working with wood.
Survivors include two sons, Christopher Palmer of Spokane Valley and Michael Alblinger of San Antonio; two daughters, Michelle Ziolkowski of Cheney and Sandra West of Prescott, Ariz.; four brothers, Stanley Palmer of Sweet Home, Ore., Dennis and Bruce Palmer, both of Oakesdale, and Tony Palmer of Mesa, Ariz.; a sister, Norma Cook of Spokane; and six grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Oakesdale Fire Department and Emergency Medical Technician Services or the American Heart Association.

Service for Rodney S. Palmer, 80, is planned for 10 a.m. today at the Oakesdale Community Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at the Garfield (Wash.) Cemetery. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Palmer died Monday.
He was born in Tekoa, Wash., and was a 40-year Oakesdale resident.
He attended schools in Palouse.
In 1936 he married Genevieve Barnes in Spokane and they settled in Palouse.
Mr. Palmer worked on the section crew for the Washington, Idaho, and Montana Railroad and also worked for Allen V. Smith's and Wallace Grain and Pea Co. in Palouse.
The family later moved to Oakesdale, where Mr. Palmer worked as a warehouse foreman for the Oakesdale Grain Growers. He retired in 1983.
His wife, Genevieve, died in 1985.
Mr. Palmer is survived by five sons, Stanley Palmer of Sweet Home, Ore., Bruce and Michael Palmer, both of Oakesdale, and Tony and Dennis Palmer, both of Spokane; a daughter, Norma Cook of Spokane; a sister, Wilma Rothrock of Spokane; 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Oakesdale Fire Department or the Spokane Valley Good Samaritan Village.
