Marriage records from Warren County, Tennessee confirm the marriage of Callie Blevins to Jasper Bains Jr, on November 28, 1899.
Callie is living with her widowed mother and siblings in the 1900 Census. Her son, Edgar, was born January 2, 1901. This translates to conception in March-April of 1900. If Callie was married and Edgar was conceived, why was she listed in the census as Callie Blevins, single, living with her mother, on June 12, 1900?
We have a letter from Callie, written to her Grandmother, dated March 21, 1901. In the letter, she announces the birth of her boy (not named) in January of 1901. She mentions her sisters Frances, Ina and Ella and brother Tom. The four of them were with her in 1900 in the census. Was the marriage a secret? Can't find Jasper Bain Jr. in 1900.
