Reba Julia Adkisson Jones, 86, of Jefferson City, died Tuesday, April10, 2001, at the Life Care Center of Jefferson City.
Mrs. Jones was born April 12, 1914, in Windrock, the daughter ofEdward and Ida Adkisson, who are deceased. She was a 1935 graduate ofWheat High School and was valedictorian of her class.
She was a former resident of Clinton and of Caryville and was a memberof St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Clinton. She had served assecretary/treasurer of her Sunday school class and held variousoffices in United Methodist Women over the years.
A resident of the Tacora Hills area of Clinton for many years, she wasactive in the Home Demonstration Club and the Gardening Club. Mrs.Jones was a former member and officer in the Caryville and Clintonchapters of the Order of Eastern Star.
Mrs. Jones was the widow of Herman Barkstal Jones.
She is survived by her daughters, Janis Long and her husband, Don, ofRockford, Ill., and Judy Tippit and her husband, Tom, of JeffersonCity; her grandchildren, Elizabeth Long of Rockford, Ill., David Longand his wife, Liz, of Cambridge Springs, Pa., Scott Long and his wife,Marsha, of Fort Worth, Texas, Shannon McBride and her husband, Brad,of Alcoa and Brian Tippit and his wife, Misty, of Sevierville; and byseveral great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded indeath by her brothers, Alvin Adkisson, Lawrence Adkisson and ErnestAdkisson.
The funeral was to be held at 3 this afternoon, April 12, in thechapel of Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the Rev. JohnClark officiating.
Burial was to follow at Sunset Cemetery in Clinton.
The family was to receive friends from 1 to 3 this afternoon at thefuneral home.
